St Day Old Church

From Bernadette Fallon

We have just exchanged contracts with the Church of England Commissioners and completed the transfer and sale of St Day Old Church to our Community Interest Company. Our aim is to make it a centre for theatre, music, film, art, and all sorts of community activities. This is the culmination of a 30-year project to save the building, and it is the beginning of a whole new chapter, which is going to need as much community involvement as possible.

The handover officially happened in a big event on Monday 30th April at 2 p.m. This included a procession, the ceremony itself, some speeches, music from the Day-light Choir, St Day and Carharrack Community School, and folk group Handpicked - then a cream tea and more music in the church hall. A truly momentous day!

For more information see the St Day Old Church Facebook page, and, once it's  up and running properly, the website.
